A generic draft kit list is available for you to download, your contingent will issue their own version in due course. By sharing this generic list so early it is hoped that where new items are required there is plenty of time for them to be considered as suitable gifts for birthdays etc. If you are not sure what items are suitable please do not hesitate to ask your contingent leaders for advice.
As Cubjam is crewed by pirates of days gone by remember that new fangled inventions like electricity and batteries were not around so contingents don’t expect any contraband (mobile phones, games consoles, MP3s, IPods etc to be brought on board) – or your Cub might have to pay the consequences……..
Please make sure everything has your son or daughter’s name on it. Contingents do not usually accept responsibility for loss or damage to any personal effects and the Scout Association does not provide automatic insurance for such items.
It’s not a good idea to let them pack new clothes or footwear, as it may never look the same again!
It is essential your son or daughter is allowed to pack their own kit (in a rucksack or holdall please—no suitcases or treasure chests!) as it can avoid upset through not being able to find something, and because they will normally have to pack for themselves at the end of the camp! If you are worried they might forget something by all means check items off the list with them as they pack, or even help them practice a few times so they can do it by themselves.
